EDINA, Minn. — Championship season officially begins for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this weekend as the 2026 MIAC Women's Golf Championships are set to tee off on Friday morning at Braemar Golf Course in Edina.

Nine MIAC women's golf teams will begin the three-day, 54-hole conference championship this Friday, October 2, and crown the MIAC champion on Sunday, October 4.

This will be the second consecutive season that the MIAC Women's Golf Championships will be played at Braemar; the course also hosted the MIAC Men's Golf Championships in 2024.

Championship 101

Each participating MIAC team will enter five players in the tournament, with the program's four best performances each day determining the team score. The team with the lowest score over the course of the tournament will receive the MIAC's automatic qualifier to the 2027 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships.

Action will begin on Friday morning with the first wave of golfers set to tee off at 11:00 a.m. Teams are seeded based on their finish in the 2025 MIAC Championships, and golfers will tee off in descending order of their place in the lineup (No. 5 to No. 1). [Note: Carleton and St. Olaf have agreed to switch wave positions on Day 1 due to a schedule conflict on campus.] Macalester, St. Catherine, and St. Olaf will start the tournament at 11:00 a.m., with teams following in order of 2025 finish every ten minutes after. Gustavus, Saint Benedict, and Bethel are tentatively set to begin teeing off at 11:50 a.m. on Friday, followed by defending champion Carleton, Concordia, and St. Scholastica beginning at 12:40 p.m.

Saturday's tee times are also set to begin at 11:00 a.m., while Sunday's final round is slated for a 10:00 a.m. start. Specific pairings for Saturday and Sunday will be reordered from high to low according to the previous day's scores. Tentative tee times and pairings for the tournament will be available online on the championship home page and on Scoreboard powered by Clippd.

Championship Rewind

The Carleton Knights are the reigning MIAC women's golf champions. Carleton rewrote the MIAC women's golf record book at the 2025 conference championships; the Knights shattered the championship team scoring records for 18 (292), 36 (590), and 54 (886) holes, while MIAC medalist and eventual NCAA Division III individual national champion Carter Sichol also posted new conference records for 18 (69), 36 (138), and 54 (211) holes. The Knights placed all five players on the 2025 MIAC All-Championship Team, becoming just the sixth team in recorded MIAC history to achieve the feat.

All-Championship Returners

Five former MIAC Women's Golf All-Championship Team honorees will be back on the course this weekend, including Bethel's Sophie Brantner (T9th 2023); Macalester's Ava Austria (T10th 2024, 4th 2025) and Yangyang Gu (T9th 2025); and St. Catherine's Caylin Cantwell (6th 2025) and Raquel Ahrens (T9th 2025).

The ten lowest-scoring individuals (ties included) at the MIAC Championships are named to the All-Championship Team and earn automatic qualification to the All-MIAC squad in the spring.
